Jason Butler, the creative force behind Thee Conductor, works with an impressive group of musicians for an intentional, yet open & collaborative art project resulting in a curated collection of songs.
At the young age of five, Butler was influenced by spaghetti western soundtracks (Ennio Morricone) and the minimalist work of Vince Guaraldi (A Charlie Brown Christmas). Both his mother and father favored these films and albums so it was a natural subconscious ingraining of preferred sound.
His first album titled Cotton Tornado was released in October 2017 to much acclaim. The album was co-produced and engineered by Justin Douglas of King Electric Studios in Austin Texas. This impressive debut is a swirl of orchestration both amplified and acoustic with some catchy singing & interesting rhythmic drumming. The album features the accompaniment of Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Jana Horn, Kevin Shea (Storm and Stress), Michael Patrick St. Clair (Hard Proof), Christopher Cox (Feverbones) & many other colorful characters.
Thee Conductor is now finishing up a new album titled "Spirit of a Ghost". Consisting of 8 songs along with 3 new videos, the new album was produced with Justin Douglas of King Electric Studios & features buddies Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Will Johnson, Jana Horn, the Tosca String Quartet & many other talented folk. An explanation of the new album using commas might be: Horns, strings, singing, strumming, drumming, a remix, an iPhone recording, sad, happy, gentle, poignant, dark, light, candy kisses.
